Will the real Peter Power please stand up?

"...Power has already started to back-peddle from his radio and television comments and attempt to minimize the scale of the exercises and their similarity to the real attacks. Recall what Power told the BBC.

POWER: At half past nine this morning we were actually running an exercise for a company of over a thousand people in London based on simultaneous bombs going off precisely at the railway stations where it happened this morning, so I still have the hairs on the back of my neck standing up right now.

HOST: To get this quite straight, you were running an exercise to see how you would cope with this and it happened while you were running the exercise?

POWER: Precisely.

So Power has backed off from all three locations being exact and is now saying only two were similar, with only one being very similar. Which Peter Power are we supposed to believe? He has changed his story in the space of less than a week.

Power also admits that the program was part of a "wider project," which again broadens the scope of this from being an insignificant drill for a small company with no affiliation to the government, to something potentially much bigger.

Ian is the Head of Business Continuity at Visor, especially when working with clients in the Financial Service sector. Whilst working for UBS Warburg in Switzerland Ian created a pan-European Business Continuity programme which successfully passed a PWC / FSA banking audit for a new banking licence. Ian was a founding member of the Securities Industry Business Continuity Management Group, which aims to increase the level of awareness and preparation for investment banks. He was a major contributor to working parties and benchmarking within the group, ensuring that knowledge of third party recovery provider utilisation was well documented for members.

Prior to working within the Investment Bank arena Ian lead major projects in the Cayman Islands to produce Y2K and "hurricane" preparedness plans. Additionally he worked for Rio Tinto plc, Global Asset Management, Scottish Equitable International, Compaq, Network Associates, Yorkshire Electricity and ICL Pathway. In an earlier career Ian was also responsible for developing the LDRPS framework and for ensuring clients plans were quality assured.

Ian is a regular presenter at Business Continuity conferences in London, and has also presented in Europe, on behalf of the Bank for International Settlements (Basel II framework), on the concepts of Business Continuity.

In addition to his work with Visor as an advisor in the field of crisis and risk management, David has recently retired as the Chairman of Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust, and continues as Chairman of Governors of the Portsmouth Grammar School, of HMS Warrior (1860) and of the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. He is a member of the governing Council of Christ's Hospital, is a Project Director for a communications analysis company and is leading the project to build the largest education and adventure training sailing ship in the world, to be in commission on the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Trafalgar (21st October 2005).
