Nov. 10, 2005 - Volunteer Ministers Honored by the International Association of Scientologists
The Scientology Volunteer Ministers
web site has this little piece. I'm very proud of my friends who
went to help after the tsunami in January last year. I wasn't
surprised to find out that many of the same people also went to
Louisiana to help after Katrina. These people do so much good. Anyone can train to be a Volunteer Minister, and the more who do, the more their very special help can be made available. I can see this creating such a major change in the spiritual outlook on this planet. Here's the story: In celebration of the 21st anniversary of the founding of the International Association of Scientologists, Scientology Volunteer Ministers from around the world are being honored for the humanitarian work they have done over the past year. Volunteer
Ministers provided urgently needed disaster relief for the victims of
the tsunamis in Southeast Asia and those affected by the hurricanes
that hit the Gulf Coast of the U.S., Mexico and Central America this
year. Members of this program also traveled to
countries such as Botswana, the Baltic States in Eastern Europe, India
and Brazil, where they are training local residents in techniques from
the Scientology Handbook
that enable the individual to really help his or her family and
community in such diverse areas of life as improving relationships,
increasing ability and efficiency and improving study skills. A
recent survey was conducted and 78% of those questioned wanted to be
able to help others in time of need or disaster, a fact born out by the
incredible response from people all over the USA who joined our
Volunteer Ministers teams in Louisiana, after Hurricane Katrina. But
these same people felt they did not have the skills needed to really
help others. This is exactly what Volunteer Minister training addresses. To
help fill this need, Scientology churches are providing training
programs to enable anyone to become a Volunteer Minister. For
information on how to receive this training or for more information
about the program contact the Volunteer Ministers Coordinator at: phone 1-800 HELP 4-YU (1-800-435-7498) or (323) 960-1949 e-mail vm@volunteerministers.org
