Mar. 13, 2006 - L. Ron Hubbard's Birthday
Every year on March 13th Scientologists celebrate the
anniversary of the birth of L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of the Scientology
religion.
In honor of Mr. Hubbard's birthday, I am posting an excerpt from a speech by
Mr. David Miscavige at an event help to celebrate this occasion.
L. Ron Hubbard's birthday is one of the holidays all Scientologists
celebrate.
In Clearwater, Florida,
members of Scientology churches gather to review the news of the past
year.
There is a special game all churches and missions participate in, called the L.
Ron Hubbard Birthday game. The Scientology and Dianetics glossary defines
this as follows:
"A yearly competition participated in by Missions, Scientology Organizations and
Advanced Organizations. The purpose of the game is expansion, and its points
are earned each week based on the trends of the statistics. The Birthday Game
started in 1974 when L. Ron Hubbard was asked what he wanted for his birthday
and his answer was "5X the stats!" The result was one of the biggest
booms in Scientology to that date, and the Birthday Game has since become a
tradition."
Mr. David Miscavige usually acts as master of ceremonies for this event, and it
is recorded and sent to all Scientology churches, which likewise hold events
for their parishioners. That way all Scientologists around the world have
the opportunity to be brought up to date on news about the Church's expansion.
Here is an excerpt from one of Mr. Miscavige's recent speeches in celebration
of L. Ron Hubbard's birthday.
"Welcome to an evening like no other in our history, and a New Year
celebration like none other on Earth. For while the whole world awaits
the New Millennium tonight, with whatever hope and aspirations they can
muster, this one is different for us.
"Because we are not only celebrating the first half-century of LRH
Technology, but before this night is over, I guarantee you those words
“New Millennium” will take on an entirely new meaning." >>
