Jul. 18, 2006 - The Future
What do you think the future holds? I was reading through
Newsweek and I couldn't tell what made me feel more depressed -- all
the bad news or the ads for the new depression medicine that "doesn't
make you gain weight or ruin your sex life." The latest miracle drug -- the real miracle being that more people don't die from it. In today's news: "An
anti-depressant that Andrea Yates was taking before she drowned her
five children has recently been found to possibly increase the risk of
homicidal thoughts. "Medical watchdog group The Medical
Accountability Network says the makers of anti-depressant Effexor have
not warned the public of its risk. "Yates was taking twice the recommended dose of Effexor one month before the drownings " What is so frustrating to me, as a Scientologist,
when I read about "my 19 year old daughter has been having trouble
since she started taking...." is that most of the time, what a person
is taking these meds to overcome can be resolved so easily if you
understand just a little bit about life. If you are reading this and thought maybe there's a better way -- you are right. One of my favorite descriptions of Scientology is a speech by David Miscavige called "This is Scientology." It's better to go into a Scientology church and ask to watch it. It's been turned into a DVD and Mr. Miscavige is so eloquent) but the excerpt that's on line gives you an idea of the breadth of help that's really available.
