Here it is, April and there have been no promotions at Team One since Nov. 13th.
My theory :
Social promotions. Everybody 'became eligible' to test at the same time. Miraculously, everybody passed. No one has been eligible since.
In the over ten years that he has been 'teaching', there have only been three youth black belts and no adult black belts. What does that say to you? When the program was under the direction of the Youth of America (aka before Shawn ran the program into the ground), new classes of as many as 20 would start 3-4 x per year for many years. There was another black belt that Shawn awarded to a great kid because the rules of the Youth of America, in thier wisdom, were something like, "Come on, you have to promote well performing students who have good attendance before hell freezes over". Shawn won't even acknowledge the kid as a black belt. He says the kid's has a black belt from YOA. Hello, you can't be a black belt in Youth of America. It's not a style. Hey, wait a minute, neither is *combat karate*. Come to think of it, the kid has better credentials than Shawn's black belts. Nobody made up "Youth of America". |
