CombatGal's Martial Arts Log

• Apr. 18, 2008 - Hey Cowardly Commentor!

Thanks once again for letting me know that people are reading this blog.  My kids know that their mother does not take abuse. Nobody messes with their mama! They also know that their mother has a good paying professional job, for which she works hard. I stress the value of education. I point out hardships in life that can be avoided if they aim high. Perhaps you should follow that advice. Oh, that's right. It's too late. I just don't want my kids to have to struggle, go without, and live in doubt. I guess we were pretty poor when I was young, even if I didn't realize it at the time. My kids WILL succeed.  This is America, after all. But I digress.. Shawn Terrance does has the right to run his "school" the way he wants, but he doesn't have the right to throw away my many dollars and many hours of training for no reason. I should care that he acts the way he does because of his bd, but I guess I'm not that understanding under these circumstances.  Although you are too cowardly to say who you are, I can tell who you are by your i.p. address, which Forumer automatically records for those who chose to remain anonymous. Maybe if you wouldn't blindly follow the wrong people, you would have a better lot in life. Maybe it was too late for you, but you turned around and led your kid down the same path. To me St. Patrick's Day/South Side Irish is just sad. I've seen so many people (at Team One alone ) who have nothing and do nothing to improve their situation. Do they know that there is a way out of their situation? You don't have to live like that. Learn,

I think I can shed some light on the social situation described. The Irish came to the United States as laborers. There are certain pockets like the ones you describe, in which their descendant's have settled in clusters. You have to understand that their not-too-distant anscestors had left Ireland to avoid starvation, actual starvation. The clusters of their descendants don't see a real need to become extremely wealthy; even if they are a major illness, etc. away from financial crisis, they are quite safe from starvation, so they see their situation as elevated from thier ancestors, therefore, they see nothing wrong with their children growing up to work the same jobs and live the same lifestyle as themselves.
