• Aug. 31, 2008 - Seeds of yesterday, Blossoms of today? Or is it Seeds of tomorrow ... Blossoms of yesterday?
Posted By Beven
Hi all, it is I again ... so what is this thing about seeds of tomorrow, blossoms of yesterday? Yesterday I went to Bodhi Nite 2008 - an event that the unibuds (a uni Buddhist club) organise every year. This was my first time attending to such an event which consisted of free dinner (no meat of course) and a show.
I went with 3 other people and at the end two of us were left. They had a play which was not all bad but I have to say that singing wasn't that good and the talks with 2 Buddhists from some monasteries didn't help either. One talked for an hour because she also had a translator with her (who struggled endlessly with the seeds of tomorrow, blossoms of yesterday concept mixed around with today, yesterday and tomorrow) and the other one just talked and talked. So what did I learn from last night event? Something about Karma and to remember to bring an ipod with you next time when you attend Bodhi Nite next year ...
Will I go again next year? Maybe ... maybe if I'd skip the talk then it wouldn't have been that bad ...
Here is another day of me complaining ... this time it's about my right foot. It is a bit painful to walk because I may have sprained my ankle while dodging people and objects during Sunday's City2surf which is an event for anyone who don't know where people participate in a fun run to raise money for charities.
Unfortunately it was later discovered that someone had a heart attack and died just before the finish line ... oh well ... God bless his family ... but the weather also didn't help that day when most of us were soaked in the rain while waiting for the buses to take us back to the city ... an old man in front of me was shivering his ass off ...
Anyway I managed to finish the walk in a bit under 2 hours - 118 mins to be exact which means I can join the faster group next year. I think a good 1/2 hr was wasted waiting at the start line for people to move.
Uni has also started and as always the chicks were not that nice - except for one but she is a bit of a turn off due to her annoying voice and the fact she has the attitude of I am too good for the world so screw you. But doesn't matter ... I'd prefer an average looking girl with a good personality any day ...
Getting late here ... better sleep .... gnite .... zzzzzzzzzz
Yes it has been awhile but I thought that I will start putting up some stuff on here again.
Well I don't really want to speak too soon but I think the drought may have broken as inspiration is starting to flow again and I have my typing fingers handy! I'm so happy! I really think getting back in and finding comfort in reading other's work has helped - I'm currently reading this one story and my words have been able to flow more smoothly after reading her work (I really should let her know and give big thanks!) so now hopefully I can pave the way to complete my story... perhaps.
I have started writing again and I feel good about the stuff I've actually written. I'm only writing about subject matter that I am interested in and it's not everyone's cuppa but I'm writing for me but I've been getting positive feedback in emails from others.
I never really considered writing before I met someone who does love to write and by discussing that passion gave me reason enough to try it. While I don't (nor ever) consider myself a 'writer' so to speak - I enjoy the creative expression and feel content that I chosen to take up this genre. The people I have met and spoken to about stories, ideas and subject matter has been amazing and inspiration that others give me really is wonderful. It is fantastic to share with someone who is as passionate about something as you are.
That's about all for now, I might even place some of my pondering on here too in the future... And all that Jazz!
Can't believe I have wasted the holidays doing nothing ... and now it is another semester of uni again ... argh ... I went to my first class tonight and it was sure different from my usual classes from previous semester. For starters, the class is really really small ... I can actually count the number of people ... 1, 2, 3 ... 16 ... 14 to be precise since 1 was there for fun and the other is not going to do the course. Also, there were alot of discussions which brings back memories of INFS5000 though I shouldn't be suprised since this is an INFS subject. Enough with the boring stuff, so how is my life?
Pretty much the same when I have last left off except I am now doing Aeroboxing on Wednesdays. The first class which started a few weeks ago was pretty intense but it got easier (maybe because in the first class the instructor made it particularly hard).
Have I been playing any games? Besides MHP2 on the PSP which I rarely play now and KOF series on MAME32, not really ... :)
I was mucking around with Phantasy Star Portable which was a game that I have anticipated but it just isn't fun when the game is in japanese and the graphics still do not match the quality found in MHP2 (at first glance anyway).
Oh yeah ... I brought myself a Transformer MP-04 Convoy at Target on the weekend for $180 - it's a bargin considering they are selling for about $250 on eBay. Might buy another one and sell it on eBay ... :).
Wow has it been that long since my last entry? I have been either incredibly busy or just plain lazy to type anymore. Anyway my holidays have started last week after my last exam ECON5002 in which I'd found extremely difficult.
Although it was short I did do some interesting things over the last few months:
- went down to Melbourne to give training to a bunch of Telstra stakeholders
- brought 2 PSP's - one mint green (gay colour in retrospect) straight from Japan and a FF Crisis core limited edition in which is going to be an investment property
- kinda went out with this Indo chick but things did not work out for the better or the worse
- said good bye to my "loved one" who went to Singapore to take care of in-laws
- went to see a chiropractor to fix up my posture but for $55 for a supposed-to-be-a 45 min session I decided to stop seeing him
- currently participating in GCC who-can-walk-the-most-steps competition
- spent over $5000 on Transformers now ...
- lost 6kgs since going to the gym :D
- brought this really cool black jacket muahaha
Now to wait for my uni results to come out - fingers crossed ... I studied my arse off for both exams but still managed to screw up one .... argh ...
Oh yeah ... Chrono Trigger is rumoured to come out on the DS ... As Big Kev would say "I'm EXCITED"!!!!!
Alrighty, have been sitting on this since last weekend - last Saturday night I was finished chatting to friends and (eventually) went to bed - it was around 12.45am and I was happily getting comfy in my bed.
I was just dozing off when this almighty explosion of sound woke me from my bleariness to discover the sound was a steam train (the train line is behind the houses opposite in my street, below in a small cutting) and the sound was unmistakable, but in the dead of night it was so damn loud.
The weird part of this tale is I heard it stop (steam released and everything) that seemed to be behind the opposite houses and then nothing - there was nothing else to be heard, everything was silent.
Now there are no platforms in that area and if it traveled on, it would be heard distinctly - but there was nothing after the hiss of steam escaping (insert line from 'Blazing Saddles') and I tried to listen for anything else, but my mind was too tired and passed into dreamy boom boom land shortly after...
Have I heard any more steam trains? No and this has played on my mind on occasion. My sis had a weird occurance happen when she was relaxing on her garage roof overlooking the ocean last week. She saw a fast streak of *something* tear along the road with no noise... meh!
Now the only weird thing I'm thinking of is mechs, holoforms.. and car butts! Mwhahah! Baby got back!
Luckily for me, the holidays are still on and uni does not start till March. Hopefully I will remember to enroll into the right subjects else I'd be screwed.
So what have I been doing in the holidays? Mainly 3 things - work, gym and PSP.
Currently, I am playing Jeanne D'Arc which is loosely based on Joan the Arc story withyour typical fantasy characters and the story goes a bit off tangent after "Jeanne" dies. It's a SRPG so I am spending alot of time playing it after work (so far 15+ hrs).
I also brought a $520 suit for a friend's wedding a few days ago and it already has a hole near the fly after wearing it for one day. What a total rip off ... this is what you get for paying shit load for a suit? Damn it!!! I am hoping to return it back to the store and they'd better fix it or else ....
Looks like it is going to be another year by myself for V'day ... clock is ticking and I am running out of time ...argh ... though I have been seeing this girl but unfortunately she is overseas during that day. What luck!

Happy new year 2008!!!
I can't believe that 2007 is over and 2008 has already started.
Of course I went to the fireworks again with any friends that I can find for the night. The fireworks were pretty plain ... which is about the same every year :)
It was the same location again at Pyrmont so no jerks and dickheads this time again haha.
I spent most of my spare time playing the Dreamcast that I have brought the other day on eBay for a decent price ... unlimited games to download and play and the good thing is that I don't need a mod-chip to play those backup games.
On Wednesday nights, I have been watching a TV series called Moonlight which is about a particular vampire who works as a PI and has a relationship with a reporter ... sounds typical but it's good or maybe I am just into vampires and all ... with the anime Blood+ and the game Castlevania.
Finally I have received the impossible ... Masterpiece Megatron from a supplier I know ... though I paid too much for it but it's worth every cent. Initially, I had trouble transforming the damn thing into a gun as with most people but at the end I got the hand of it. Now I need a place to put it.
Anyway I started the first day of the year on a trip to the Central Coast with a friend and his friends. We stopped at a few places - Hawkesberry River, a national park and a winery place. It was fun so luckily I went instead of sleeping in (I only had 3.5 hrs of sleep the night before).
Unfortunately I had to work the next day which is today so it would have been even more fun if it was not for the fact that I had to go to work the next day. Anyway, I need to work tomorrow so off to bed for me.
Hi all, it has been too long since my last entry because alot has happened since then. To summarise my boring life for the last month or two:
- assignments
- exams
- playing games
- work in between the above
But I am so relieve that my exams are over now. However, I feel jeeped for one of my exams because apparently the coordinator released a sample MC paper the day before the exam which was exactly the same as the real exam (numbers are different ... that's about it) ... geeez ....I wouldn't have known if it was not for my friend who skipped the exam and told me about it when I was giving her some "exam tips" ;). Darn it ...
Anyway, I have been playing Castlevania X chronicles on the PSP and I was addicted to it for a week or 2 (mainly for Symphony of the Night game). The game is good but I was disappointed that the best ending was not that much different from the good ending. Argh ....
I have also been reading Naruto ... chapter by chapter ... every week ... it's such a good manga but it can get annoying while waiting for the chapters to come out ... it feels so slow ...
Only after 10 days of the game being released, I have already finished it. Not that I am the first or anything but I am amazed at myself in finishing the game so quickly. Excellent game indeed ... ending was sad but expected since this is a prequel. Now I cannot wait for the english version to come out next year so that I can understand the plot a bit more.
• Sep. 9, 2007 - Spring is here ... semester 2 again ...
Posted By Beven
I cannot believe that this is September already and Spring is upon us once again. I am already in the middle of another semester again. Looks like I have delayed what degree I am going to get ...
Did I meet anyone new this semester? Yes ... one who likes to hit people when he cracks a joke, and another girl who is freeriding ... but conservative ... kinda ... whatever ....
So what's new? I am just about done with watching 2 seasons of Transformers since I brought the DVD boxset. I am playing Riviera and Monster Hunter 2 Freedom on the PSP at the moment but I am very eager to see FF7 Crisis Core which is going to come out in Japan on the 13th of this month.
Unfortunately, I have a mid semester exam to study for so I will not have time to look at it till afterwards. I cannot believe that I spent my long weekend doing my assignment. At least it's done (almost) ....
I also started reading Naruto again online ... so I am up to date again ... NARUTO is such a good manga still!!!
I think the americans are sick of waiting for the english manga to catch up with the japanese so they are releasing 3 volumes per month till December. That means 12 volumes of manga till the end of this year !!!!!!! Which also means by then, they will be only 13 volumes behind ... which is not bad ...
Anyway, time to prepare my aching body for study ... nah ... I'd probably go to sleep ...
*Warning* Some spoilers for those who don't know the original series/movie (animated)
Well, long time no been here – been too busy living to make any comments here…. and I’ve been wondering on today’s topic of choice: Transformers
More specifically, Transformers the cartoon and much loved series of legions of fans around the world. I have been watching the series, which has been great, as I haven’t seen it since it was last on TV over 20 years ago and I was a kid then and am seeing things in a better perspective as an adult. The realisation of how the series moves and evolves is interesting but also very bewildering. More questions tend to get raised than answered watching this show and many of them circle around how characters are introduced/fazed out.
As for introducing characters, that’s fine. I can take (and other people too take this view) that the new guys were in a different section of the arc that couldn’t be reached until (insert point of where new character comes along), such as one episode in series 2 – can’t remember exact episode but a cut scene shows Prime talking to Jazz or Bumblebee (someone known anyway) and in the background is no known characters – very amusing. And everyone’s name is spun off quickly while on the way to some heroic battle to save the ‘flesh creatures’ or energy sources and we the audience are meant to remember them all.
But the one thing that really is annoying me is the disappearance of introduced characters and the whereabouts of what happened to them… I know the story of the company wanting to have new characters for new waves of toys to be introduced, but heck why leave the old ones behind? What happened to them? Did they die? Leave Earth back for Cybertron? Leave for somewhere else entirely? Just go into hiding on Earth? Join forces with the Decepticons? WHAT HAPPENED TO SKYFIRE??? That is probably my most sought question I want answered, he was cool and bloody huge! The once friend and fellow scientist with Starscream, now Autobot ally made a large premise when introduced once he was found and then soon after dwindled to a much weaker character – the good natured side of him still there, just more wussy and nowhere near as strong as when he first appeared, such as in episode 9, when Megatron has made a weapon from an ancient power source, Skyfire gets found out by the Decepticons and Starscream takes him down with one hit – even he jokes about the ‘mighty Skyfire’.
Only up to series 2 anyway – which I am very fond of due to Blaster being on the scene, he is pretty cool. If there is one episode that is so hilarious, it is episode 52 Auto-Bop when Blaster and Soundwave have their big ‘battle’ at the end. What was the Decepticons planning on doing with the huge tower the humans were building? It is very sad though that Bumblebee doesn’t get used quite so much later on and the fact he becomes Goldbug. I really am miffed with the extermination of a number of valuable characters during the movie – from this result an episode in series 3 has Arcee yelling out to Springer (I think) that she isn’t a doctor to fix Hot Rod (Rodimus Prime) – sorry he will always be Hot Rod to me. This wouldn’t be a problem if the effects of the movie didn’t flow on through the series – they could have set up the movie premise just the way Dragonball Z did – an extension of the series with un-relating events that didn’t see fav characters die! I miss Ironhide, Wheeljack and Ratchet… mostly Ironhide, it’s funny how some characters seem to make an episode more enjoyable and there where a few funny moments Ironhide had (not meant to be funny, such as ‘City of Steel’ episode 19) that made the episode memorable – well it did for me. At least Blaster is around at the moment, for how long, I’m not sure and whether the series will be enjoyable once the 3rd series comes along is yet to be seen…
Dispite the fact that things have been nowhere near perfect lately, i've been having an amazing time. Sitting here waiting for Will to get off work at the moment. he recently got a Job at Dairy Queen. he just loves telling people about it too. I guess he's off training now because he sure has been gone awhile.
I can't believe it's almost september. School will be sparting up again soon.
Dispite the fact that it's summer, I've been rather busy. The other day I was babysitting, before thet we stayed at Will's friend's place and saw thie real good horror movie called "one missed call" i reccommend it.
well, I cant' be online too long becasue people need to use the phone and we only have dail-up intranet here . (yeah, it sucks, but beggers can't be choosers)
Today was a long breaking record of 4 hours of yumcha (for me anyway). What is more amazing was that there were only 3 of us (my friend talks alot so that is probably why) but we still managed to eat $75 worth of food. But now I am hungry again .... :(
I have finally got my hands on the Transformers DVD complete set at ezydvd today!!!! I am still contemplating on whether I should open it or not. I am leading towards YES!!! OPEN IT!!! DAMN IT!!!
Also, my results for uni have came out and I am bit disappointed with one subject but it is offset with the other one so everything is good with that regard. However, I am still troubled with choosing my next 2 subjects because I am still deciding to do Honours or stick with my current program ... decisions, decisions ... :\

Transformers the movie kicks ass! It is one of the better movies I have seen in ages. Much better than Shrek 3 which was total crap. Action, humour and excellent CG. Unfortunately, the Transformers look nothing like the G1 ones but it is still a good movie. We were late, so my workmates and I ended up sitting on the second row (since the cinema was packed) ... the closest I have ever been. Maybe because we went on tightass Tuesday?
Tonight I met up with my Sydney uni friends from my INFS class for dinner at a cheap looking Indian restaurant at Enmore but the food was nice. Lots of sauces and layers of bread. Afterwards we had a nice chat in a quiet cafe about things including life before and after 25. I was surprised that 2 of my friends (one who I've just met tonight) are actually a year younger than me which is a good change because I am usually the youngest which isn't so good. It was actually a good change instead of talking about work, work, work. :(
Now I am waiting for my parents to come home to have dinner again to celebrate my sis' b'day. Feeling sick again from the cold windy weather. Anyway, time to sign off.
Tonight I was locked out of my house for an hour and a half because I thought that I've left my keys at home. The only thing that I had was my bag and a squash ball that I was throwing around until I lost it. It was freezing on a winter night, probably below 10 degrees.
Eventually someone did come home (after calling a few people) and I went to look for my set of keys to make sure that I will never leave it at home again ... only to discover that it was in my bag the whole time. Arrragh .......... >.<

Thank goodness I have just finished my exams for the semester. It was the first day and also the last day of my exams. Funny this is actually the first time that I had 2 exams on the same day but it feels really good afterwards. After my first exam, I had a really nice kebab which filled me up till after second and final exam. But now I am hungry ... :(
And I've brought another 4 Transformers - the Terrorcons ... they weren't cheap because of the shipping from America but I should stop ... it's an expensive hobby. >:D
Anyway, I should have time to do anything now!!!!!!! And fingers crossed till my final marks come out.
Good luck to my other uni friends whom still have 1 or 2 more exams tomorrow or Friday ... and everyone else for that matter :)

Wow, it's been almost 4 months since my last entry but I am still alive and writing another one.
So how did I go in my summer school subject? Pretty shit compare to my other subjects. Oh well.
But now I am studying for 2 exams; both lands on the same day unfortunately. Hopefully I will do alright.
So what have I been up to? I am still wasting money on buying Transformers over eBay but my "TF collection" is almost complete - just missing Skids, Sideswipe, Soundwave and Soundblaster (that's right, I got the almighty Optimus prime already).
I've watched a few movies in between as well - Sunshine (a total waste of money), TMNT (pretty good for the nostalgic factor but lacks a storyline) and Shrek 3 (funny but sucked compare to the previous prequels). I am still waiting for Transformers to come out and hopefully I will not be disappointed >.<.
I've been rather stressed out at work lately ... due to tight deadlines on getting POC stuff working in a very short period of time and learning a new language or products while I was doing it. So taking a few days off work to study feels pretty satisfying even though my brain is working overtime instead of resting.
Also, I am getting distracted with Final Fantasy 2 on the PSP. I have never finished the game on any platform so I am determined to finish it off this time. :)
Alright, I will need to get back to it ... need to study for both CLAW6026 and INFS5000 exams !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Alright, so I got out of school yesterday ans was waiting for Will as usual, figuring it would be faster to go to his house before the choir concert than to go to mine since he had to do all these chores and stuff anyway. . . well he was nowhere to be found, which is very unusual. . . but anyway after much searching I called up his house and he wasn't there nbut apparently we have an appointment set up for us a 4 today, which. . well I guess I'm missing the "Just us" meeting we normally have on thursdays. . so then I had the office page him and there was no responce. . so eventually I left to have him trail behind be by abotu a minute and a half. . aparently he went to a play. it ended at 55 after. Then we went to his house and got ready for the choir concert. Discussed prom with his mother. . . yeah. well we left early to avoid havign extra stuff put on us, wich usually happens at the last minute and becasue we have to take the city bus everywhere we really can't afford to be late becasue they don't run all that frequently.
. . The choir concert went exedingly well, although we had much less practice than the other two, but everyone was in a good mood and it was refreshing.
gtg. lunch in a minute I will continue this post later!
TA for now!
I have a paper due on monday and a presentation to do in Yoga as well. The presentationh should be fairly easy to do though.
I've been writing more poetry lately and found this awesome poetry site @ www.ergopoetry.com. It's awesome to recieve so many comments from people.
Hehe, have just been onto Blogthings and done a quiz of 'Are you a good girl or a bad girl?'. As I have been called a bad girl practically every week over the past couple of months, I decided to take it and here is the results - it's funny, not that I really do bad things.. sometimes..I do bad things with bad boys
You Are a Bad Girl
You are 30% Good and 70% Bad
You're a total bad girl, from your wild hair to tattooed toes.
But you're too badass to even care if you're labeled "bad"!
And I don't have tattooed toes, only on my back and ankle - hoping to add another one to another part of my body soon though
I had an absolutely amazing weekend that blew my mind, it was one of the best times I have had in a VERY long time... actually can't remember the last time I had that much fun.
I went to a Tae Kwon Do tournament and met some incredible people, though two people stood out to me to be the most awe-inspiring. Both of them champions, her a State and National champion, him a National and International champion and both wonderful people, who have amazed me both in their abilities and how lovely they are to talk to - I am still on a high from the weekend...
While I never will make it to their level, they were awesome to watch and have inspired me so much - I feel so privileged to have met and spent time with them and their club supporters. I really hope to meet up with them in the future again; it will be a real buzz.

People really need to start listening to me.
Besides that Will has been workign on his CP and I have begun my scholarly paper. I'm really starting to wonder how I'm going to get enough sources to prove a lot of my points but D'boy seems to think I canget it done fine so I'll just have to see what happens.
• May. 12, 2007 - India beat Bangladesh in first one-dayer

Thursday May 10, 07:15 PM
DHAKA (Reuters) - Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Dinesh Karthik with unbeaten half centuries steered India to a five-wicket victory against Bangladesh in the first one-day international on Thursday.
Replying to Bangladesh's 250 for seven in 47 overs in a match reduced by rain, India made 251 for five.
Man of the match Dhoni (91 not out) hit the winning run off the last ball of the 46th over to complete an unbeaten 107-run partnership with Karthik (58 not out).
Earlier, opener Javed Omar made 80 and Saqibul Hasan 50 to help Bangladesh to their total after electing to bat.
Omar faced 117 balls, hitting two sixes and seven fours to make his 11th ODI half-century.
India captain Rahul Dravid told reporters: "It was a hard-fought win. Dhoni and Karthik played under pressure keeping cool heads."
Bangladesh skipper Habibul Bashar said: "We played well, but at the end it slipped out of our grip as we failed to break the partnership of Dhoni and Karthik."

Vista Hands On : Use Vista for four months, free
You can install an evaluation copy of any Vista edition and use it for a minimum of 30 days without having to activate it. As several publications have already noted, you can renew this evaluation period a total of three times, extending the evaluation period to roughly 120 days. But this post contains a secret technique that no one has yet published: how to automatically "rearm" the trial period at the end of each 30 day period.
The not-so-secret technique is simple: Open an elevated Command Prompt window (type cmd in the Search box, right-click the shortcut, and choose Run As Administrator from the shortcut menu). At the prompt, type slmgr.vbs -rearm and press Enter. Restart your computer. Done.
The trouble with this technique is you have to remember to do it. If the 30-day deadline passes while you're away from your computer, you'll find yourself deactivated. Here's how to handle the task automatically:
1. Click Start and type task in the Search box.
2. Click the Task Scheduler shortcut and click Continue when you see the UAC prompt.
3. In the Actions pane at the right of the Task Scheduler window, click Create Task.
4. Open a Command Prompt window (it doesn't have to be elevated), and type the command slmgr -xpr. Make a note of the date and time when the initial grace period expires.
5. On the General tab of the Create Task window, give the task a name, click Run whether user is logged on or not, and select the Run with highest privileges check box, as shown here.
6. On the Triggers tab, click New and fill in the dialog box to create a One Time task using a date and time that is before the end of the initial grace period, as calculated in Step 4. Click OK.
7. On the Actions tab, click New. The default action in this dialog box is Start a program. Fill in slmgr.vbs for the name of the program and add -rearm in the Add arguments box, as shown here. Click OK.
8. Click OK to save the task. Enter your password when prompted (this is what allows the task to approve the UAC consent request on your behalf).
Repeat this process for the second and third rearm task, making sure to choose dates that are less than 30 days after the task you just created. As long as your computer is turned on when the scheduled date and time arrive, the task will run and you'll get your renewal.
