Ima jedan film za koji slobodno mogu reci da je ostavio prilicno veliki trag u mom zivotu. Dugo godina bio mi je to najomiljeniji film, a onda je vrijeme ucinilo svoje i polako sam ga zaboravio. Gotovo sasvim.
Nakon nekoliko mjeseci mukotrpnog downloada, konacno sam ga uspio dodati svojoj kolekciji i ovih dana sam ga ponovno odgledao nakon tko zna koliko godina. Naime ja sam zadnji put taj film gledao kao djete, sjecam se da sam isao u kino Central nekoliko dana zaredom i da sam ga gledao bar jedno pet sest puta, istrosivsi sav svoj dzeparac. Sjecam se da sam bio toliko opcinjen tim filmom da sam izrezivao sve moguce slike iz novina a isto tako se sjecam da je Nastasija Kinski igrala znatnu ulogu u mojim mokrim adolescentskim snovima.
I dan danas postoji negdje u nekoj kutiji u mom roditeljskom domu plakat koji je tolike godine imao pocasno mjesto na zidu moje sobe, mislim sve tamo negdje do sredine mojih dvadesetih godina. Krupni plan Nastasije, mokre od kise sa zvjerskim macjim ocima, voda joj se cjedi niz senzualna poluotvorena usta a iza nje je glava crnog pantera sa razljapljenim celjustima.
A tek koliko puta sam padao u zanos slusajuci Bouwijevu istoimenu pjesmu -

Ono sto me fascinira je da film i dan danas , nakon toliko godina nije izgubio svoju magicnost. Obicno vam se desava da vas filmovi koje ste voljeli kao djeca ostave ravnodusnim kad sazrijete, medjutim to sasvim sigurno nije slucaj sa filmom Cat People.
Ok, priznajem prica je totalno nebulozna i naivna i sada me svakako ne fascinira onoliko koliko je to bio slucaj kada sam bio balavac. Remake vec prozvakane plitke radnjice. Prokletstvo ljudi macaka, potomci drevnog plemena osudjeni na incest. Ukoliko vode ljubav sa nekim tko nije njihovog soja pretvaraju se u crnog pantera i mogu ponovno dobiti ljudski oblik tek kad nekoga ubiju. Stupidno i ne pretjerano mastovito . Ali sta je Shrader uradio od ove stupidne fabulice , hmm, ne znam odakle poceti.
Prvo film ima nevjerovatno upecatljivu atmosferu koja vas potpuno obuzme.
Ne znam jeste li primjetili da se svi cool i magicni filmovi a i isto tako i knjige desavaju bas u New orleansu. Svaki kadar je pravo bogatstvo fotografije i atmosfere, u tolikoj mjeri da mozete osjetiti vlazni sumrak Louisiane, namirisati kisu na prastarim ulicama.
Ja se jednostavno sasvim rasplinem dok gledam ovaj film.
Nastasija Kinski je u isto vrijeme nevina djevica koja tek otkriva svoju seksualnost i svirepa zvijer.
Poslije sam saznao da je Shrader bio ljudo zaljubljen u Nastu koja ga je odmah po snimanju filma i napustila :
This is another film where the actual footage must play a distant second fiddle to the material left on the cutting room floor.
Director Paul Schrader and leading lady Nastassja Kinski had an affair during the production, to the extent that a coked-out Schrader was obsessed with Kinski, asked for her hand in marriage, and was shattered when she not only refused the proposal, but broke off the entire relationship and fled to Paris after the filming.
Schrader was distraught to the point of stalking her, and when he finally tracked her down, she told him the whole affair never meant a thing to her. "Paul, I fuck all my directors. And with you it was difficult."
The enraged Schrader had the perfect tool for revenge. During the filming, he had shot a little extra private footage, if you catch my drift, and he threatened to use it. Kinski knew the footage really existed, and reported the threat to producer Ned Tanen. The narrative is picked up by Peter Biskind, in his book "Easy Riders, Raging Bulls":

Cak i specijalni efekti, dan danas nakon svih Gospodara prstenova i Ratova zvijezda i dalje izgledaju majstorski. Transformacija Naste u macketinu je totalno uvjerljiva i savrsena.
Ma sta ja tu trosim rijeci, taj film jednostavno treba dozivjeti, zavalis se udobno po mogucnosti uz casu dobrog vina i odvrnes do daske,
a sto se New Orleansa tice, srest cemo se mi opet, siguran sam u to...
