Weird things that just get weirder

So(I love starting my posts with so)....

So, one of my co-workers(let's call her Amanda) has this boyfriend(let's call him Jeff).  He is a strange guy, and always acts like he is some huge badass.  He talks like he is black, he can't hold a job for more than a few weeks, he acts like he has killed people or something, he is covered in tattoos, he gets really sketchy when cops come around.  We live in way too small of a town for him to have ever done anything really crazy.  So I asked around, and found out he is not from here.  He is from out of state.

Maybe I should admitt here that I had looked him up in the states legal records to see if he did do anything.  I found stupid stuff, like underage drinking(who doesn't have one of those?), petty theft(stupid), driving without a license(another stupid thing), and ANOTHER driving without a license.  Man, how badass can you get, huh? < /sarcasm >

Ok, so I found out what state he came from and looked him up.  Guess what?  NOTHING.  He did nothing at all in his previous state.  I thought by this time that he was super lame-o and brought it up to another co-worker(let's call her Sarah) so we could all laugh at him.  Guess what she tells me?  She tells me he changed his name!  OOooooOOOoooo, getting better!  So we sneak around, trying to find out his previous name.  So we find out what it was, we look it up, and there is more stupid crap on it. 

*takes a moment to see if I can find it again*

Whew, that took way longer than expected.  Ok, he has: driving without a license, no insurance, no seatbelt, driving with suspended license, no registration, and someting called "local charge."  I have no idea what local charge is.  I even tried looking it up.  Still means nothing to me.  So for all of these, he failed to appear, and a warrant was issued.  This is good, because we know for sure that is was/is him, because when Amanda was talking to him, he was in jail.  So the times match and stuff.

I bring all of this information back to the Sarah, and we laugh some more.  Big badass is just a stupid petty criminal, not the hardass he makes people believe.  So we drop it for a bit.  They move(Amanda and Jeff AKA dumbass) to a bigger city.  The move was quite sudden and I had a feeling she really didn't want to move.  They were fighting a lot and I know money was almost always an issue since he could not keep a job.  We always thought he was a loser who just didn't want to work until....

Sarah has a husband(let's call him Eric) who worked as a carpenter or something.  Maybe a roofer?  Can't remember.  Oh well.  He got Jeff a job with him back when they lived in town as a favor because we always felt bad for his girlfriend cuz he was such a worthless peice of crap and she was always supporting his lazy ass.  He lasted for a bit with that job, I think he got laid off if I am not mistaken.  Not fired.  He didn't quit.  Ok, so back to my story...

Her husband, Eric, is friends with my husband, yada yada.  They were talking the other day and Eric is kind of strange, so he hops from one topic to another very quickly.  Suddenly he brings up his old employer(he got laid off too).  He says they are trying to contact Jeff.  Eric is all like, why?  The old employer tells Eric that Jeff gave them the wrong social security number.  He gave them the number of a guy who is dead.  Weird.  So he gets the name out of the employer.  It is really weird.  The last name is the same as the last name he used in the other state, and the first name is the middle name he uses now.  Ok, let me write this out for better anderstanding.  Please remember all the names I use here are false....

Name he goes by now:   Jeff Tiller Smith 

Name he went by before:   Jeff Tiller Thompson  

Dead guys name:   Tiller Thompson

I am still looking for the dead guy.  Seems they don't open death records to the public for like 50 years or something.  This is really starting to make my skin crawl.  What if he did something really bad.   I mean, I know he is breaking the law coming up here because of probation and such, but maybe he is running because he did something else.  Maybe he had multiple names.  I mean, how do we know?  All we know about him is what he chooses to tell us.  Why doesn't he use his real social security number?  Maybe he is wanted?  I don't think I would spend my life running around over 2 months of jail.  It just seems weirder and weirder the more I find out about this guy.  I mean, he could be arrested right now for using a fake social security number.  So should I call the cops?  Should I leave it be?  Should I try to find out more about it myself?

I feel really gross.. I just keep thinking of reasons I would stay hidden the rest of my life, and the only thing I come up with is killing someone.  So maybe it isn't an act after all, you know?

I would beware of someone that lies...

Because people who lie compulsively...are also usually thieves. Watch your valuables and look for missing checks.
