Women's Hoops Honored at State CapitolThe University of Hartford women's basketball team was honored at the State Capitol on Friday afternoon. The Hawks first met with Governor M. Jodi Rell where they were presented with a proclamation honoring the team for their achievements this past season. Head Coach Jennifer Rizzotti and her team were then introduced in front of the General Assembly.The Hawks were honored at the Capitol for winning their second-straight America East Championship and winning the schools first ever NCAA Tournament game over nationally ranked Temple University in the first round. The team was introduced in the House of Representatives by State Reps. Demetrios Giannaros, D-Farmington (a professor of economics at the Barney School), and Andrew Fleischmann, D-West Hartford. The team was also introduced in the Senate by State Sens. Jonathan Harris, D-West Hartford, and Thomas Herlihy, R-Simsbury.
