| What is High Blood Pressure?
High
bloodpressure may be soar in pressure exerted by circulating
blood on the walls of artery as a general reaction to anxiety or bodily
activity. However, if this pressure continues to be stably high (high
blood pressure as it is named), it can overwork your heart and
arteries. High blood pressure may cause heart attacks and strokes.
Reading Your Blood Pressure
Medical practitioners record blood pressure as two values, the
systolic (the blood pressure when it comes in the artery from the
heart) and the diastolic (the pressure when the heart ventricles repose
between beats). It is measured in millimeters of mercury (mm Hg).
High Bloodpressure can be defined in an adult as the bloodpressure
more than or equal to 140 mm Hg systolic pressure, or more than or
equal to 90 mm Hg diastolic pressure. Nevertheless, a blood pressure
reading above 140/90 determines hypertension and is taken as abnormal
in any age.
