TechSoup (formerly CompuMentor) hosts an online forum for a variety of technology topics related to nonprofit organizations (and applicable to NGOs, schools, and other community-serving groups). One of the branches of this forum is regarding Volunteers and Technology. It's for questions and discussions re:
  • involving/supporting volunteers working on computer technology-related projects (web design, database design, IT strategies, etc.)
  • using technology to manage and support volunteers
Topics vary from how to write a description for an in-house committee to develop a Web 2.0 strategy, to how to recruit volunteers for specific tech-related projects, to how to support and involve online volunteers.

I've moderated the discussion forum for many years -- it's my longest-held volunteer post, actually. Whether you are a volunteer or paid staff member at a nonprofit (or at any NGO, school, or other community-serving group), your questions and discussions will be welcomed at the Volunteers and Technology forum. Come visit!
