A lot of nonprofit organizations still aren't quite convinced of the value of blogs -- why write a personal account on the web and allow people to comment on it? I have lots of suggestions about why and how nonprofits can blog, but recently, I found out a church in my home town of Henderson, Kentucky (Chapel Hill Methodist Church) had sent a group of volunteers down to the Gulf Coast to help with house recontruction projects, and that they were blogging about their experience. I think it's a great example of total non-techies using a blog to show the value of their volunteer contributions to the people funding them, to promote volunteerism, and to create excitement back at the "home office" regarding what they are doing. It has a very "you are there", very human, very warm and informal feeling. Great example for nonprofits still wondering at the value of a blog, and for nonprofits who concentrate too much on tech and not enough on content.
