Via a post to the Digitial Divide online community, Andy Carvin brought to my attention OneWebDay, which is taking place on September 22. The idea behind OneWebDay is to encourage Netizens to set aside some time that day to make the Web a better place, like teaching a neighbor how to vlog, editing a Wikipedia entry, setting up a community wifi hotspot, etc. He's written an article about OneWebDay, including some suggestions from the event's founder, Susan Crawford, on how schools could get involved. Great opportunity for online volunteering!
